Tongue twisters are challenging and fun for the whole family (except babies, of course!). But the toughest of the tough can be almost impossible to master. Here are some mind-boggling tongue twisters to try.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sharp concentration
  • Loose lips
  1. Step 1

Start out with a short-but-sweet tongue twister. Try repeating "toy boat" 10 times fast. It is virtually impossible.

  2. Step 2

Try repeating "Peggy Babcock" 10 times quickly. Then reach into your mouth and untangle your tongue.

  3. Step 3

Take it to an even more challenging level. Try saying "The sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick" three times fast.

  4. Step 4

Master those or give up in frustration, then try repeating "Freshly Fried Fresh Flesh" five times in haste. Give it 20 minutes and you still might not have it!

  5. Step 5
Are these the sea shells she sells at the sea shore?
Are these the sea shells she sells at the sea shore?

Give yourself a break with a comparatively easy one. Try "She sells sea shells on the sea shore, she shells she sells are sea shells I'm sure."

  6. Step 6

Finish off your tongue twister trial with a tough one. Repeat "A bloke's bike back break block broke" five times. Can you handle it?

Tips & Warnings
  • If you speak German, some of the toughest tongue twisters in the world are in that language. Try saying "How would the old ladies of Wettingen do the laundry if water were wine?" in German: "Wie Werde Wettiger Wyber Wosch wasche wenn Wasser Wy war?"
  • Try to keep your sanity as you practice these tongue twisters. It is, after all, just for fun!

on 9/11/2008 The German example under the "Tips & Warnings" section is not in High German. For over 300 German tongue-twisters see mine at http://germanteaching.com/german/tongue-twisters/
It includes special collections of battologisms (sentences with repeated words) and Schüttelreime (a bit like spoonerisms).
