If you're trying to generate traffic to your blog or website, finding interested readers can be a challenge at first. Yahoo! Answers is one community where you can help provide relevant content to users in the community, and promote your blog with ease. No matter what niche or subject your blog may be about, you can track down people who would be interested in reading your work on Yahoo! Answers. Here's how to use Yahoo! Answers to promote your blog.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Working e-mail address
  • Yahoo! ID
  • Blog and blog content URLs
  1. Step 1

    Visit the Yahoo! Answers homepage.

  2. Step 2

Create a Yahoo! account. You can make this separate from any existing account to keep track of your progress and create a new entity for your blog. You will need a new e-mail address to create this account.

  3. Step 3

Choose a username that best describes your blog. This will be the name which appears alongside each question you answer, so be as creative as possible.

  4. Step 4

Login and fill out your profile information. Fill out your profile information and make sure you include the URL of your blog, your favorite categories/subjects and any other information that will help users identify you.

  5. Step 5

Click on the 'Advanced' option next to the 'Search for questions' box. This is how you will locate relevant questions that you can answer.

  6. Step 6

Select keywords relevant to the topic you want to promote. Be as specific as possible to narrow down your search, and select the 'All' radio button.

  7. Step 7

Choose a category. You can narrow down the search with a category or simply select 'All'.

  8. Step 8

Select 'Open Questions' in the Question Status box. This will show you only the questions that still need to be answered. Resolved and undecided questions are not of any use to you because you can no longer submit an answer or response.

  9. Step 9

Click the 'Search' button. This will return all relevant open questions related to your query.

  10. Step 10

Review the search results to find someone who is asking the question you can answer with your post or comments.

  11. Step 11

Select the question. This will take you to the complete question and give you an option to 'Answer the Question' and review other people's responses.

  12. Step 12

Select 'Answer the Question'. This will take you to the main page where you can submit the details of your response.

  13. Step 13

Fill out the 'Your Answer' box. Make sure you are not submitting a post that can be deemed as spam by following the Community Guidelines. Write your response in plain English, and include a link to your article or blog as needed.

  14. Step 14

Add your blog or post link in the 'Know your Source?' box. This will provide a direct link to your blog as well.

  15. Step 15

Click 'Preview.' This will show you how what your response will look like among all of the answers to the question.

  16. Step 16

Click 'Submit'. This will notify the person asking the question that there is a new answer available, and now your answer with the blog post link or blog URL will show up on the main question page.

Tips & Warnings
  • It takes time to build your rank and authority on Yahoo! Answers, but the more often you participate, the easier it will be to attract visitors to your site.
  • You earn points for answering questions, and score even higher when your answer is selected as the 'Best Answer'.
  • You can choose 'Modify' or 'Cancel' your answer on the final step if you change your mind.
  • The entire process of finding open questions and posting responses will take some time; set aside a specific amount of time to designate strictly for this method and do it regularly for optimal results.
  • You cannot modify an answer after it has bee submitted during the final stage.

on 7/7/2009 I have been doing this for several months. I has worked out really well. I think they ban people if it looks like spam. However, I try to answer the questions partially but they have to go to my eHow article to get the details. Also, occasionally, I answer a question without putting a link in the answer. You are right, Yahoo answers is a good place to promote articles, blogs, and websites.
