Many recipes call for Fondant. Here is a great one made from marshmallows.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 16 ounces white mini marshmallows
  • 2 to 5 tablespoons water
  • 2 pounds icing sugar C&H white powdered shugar
  • ½ cup Crisco shortening
Step1
Melt marshmallows and 2 tablespoons of water in a microwave by putting the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds, take it out and stir it and keep doing this over and over until it is melted.
Step2
Place 3/4 of the powdered sugar on the top of the melted marshmallow mix.
Step3
Now grease your hands, then heavily grease the counter you will be using and dump the bowl of marshmallow and sugar mixture in the middle.
Step4
Start kneading it like you would bread dough. Add the rest of the powdered sugar as you go. If the fondant starts to stick then put more grease on your hands and counter. Add 1/2 tablespoon of water if it starts to tear.
Step5
If you have the time, let it sit, wrapped, overnight.
Step6
Prepare the fondant for storing by coating it with a good layer of Crisco shortening, wrap in a plastic- type wrap product and then put it in a re-sealable or Ziploc bag. Squeeze out as much air as possible.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you see tiny spots of powdered sugar you need to add some water and continue to knead.
  • The Fondant will hold very well in the refrigerator for weeks.
