So your friend of a friend is getting married and you don't feel comfortable getting her the standard sex toys or kinky edible underwear. A bachelorette party is not exactly a birthday party nor a Christmas party, but lies somewhere in between. This is where your imagination can come in and you can call up your inner poet and romantic to give a gift as distinct as you are; here are some ideas.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Go to Delightful Deliveries (see Resources below) and search through their huge selection of life-size edible fortune cookies that you can order as gifts. If you know the bachelorette, think of a quote that is personally meaningful to her or to the 2 of you in your friendship, and on your fortune cookie order, add the quote. It will be put inside her cookie as a foot-long message.
Step2
If you know the bachelorette, co-conspire with the party organizer to have each one of the party-goers add to a personalized scrap book for the bride to be. Have each person submit their own personal artwork or photo collage to add to the scrap book. Include photos of the bride to be, quotes, memories, ticket stubs, little bits of nostalgia from your time as friends together, have a poem done in calligraphy and add to one of the pages. Wrap the entire personalized scrapbook as a present and watch as your friend's heart melts.
Step3
If you don't know the bachelorette, give a one of a kind gift hand made in France. Go to Bernardaud (see Resources below) and click on the English version of their website. Then click on the tabs for collections, gift ware, lumineuses, then lithophanies. These are beautiful, intricate porcelain gifts that will light up to display an image when you place a candle in the center. You can give the bride to be one based on her wedding or honeymoon destination (for example a Las Vegas or Paris themed one). They have a beautiful selection and it comes gift wrapped in a box. You are guaranteed not to have the problem of giving her the same gift as everyone else.
Step4
Bring a decorative cake handmade at your local bakery. Cut out images from magazines and bring to the baker to have them re-create the look you are going for. Collaborate with the party organizer to let them know that you will be bringing the dessert as your present. You can be elaborate and imaginative with your designs-there is no limit.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you plan ahead to have an original cake made or to order gifts so they arrive in time for the party. Handmade gifts require a little time to make and you don't want to rush just before you have to show up.
