Step 1
Create a weekly reward system for your kids during Black History Month. Give them a set of 5 questions at the beginning of the week. Tell them that if they can answer all 5, they'll get to choose a reward from a reward list you've created or add a reward of their own. Examples of rewards could be breakfast in bed, 25 tokens to their favorite arcade, etc. Let them know that there will be a grand prize at the end of the month, i.e. trip to local amusement park.

Step 2
Have a weekly family screening of a notable film in African American history. Pop popcorn, pull out the blankets and watch films like "The Color Purple," "Roots," "Amistad," "Malcolm X," etc. Allow your kids to ask questions about the content of the films.

Step 3
Take your kids to a soul food restaurant and discuss the history of soul food.
