Things You'll Need:

  • Roots DVD
  • Black History trivia sheets
  • Grand prize
  • A list of quotes from notable Black Americans
  • Snacks
  • Drinks
  1. Step 1

Send an evite to your friends and invite them to your Black History Month Celebration. Advise them to brush up on their Black History, because there will be a grand prize given to the guest who knows the most.

  2. Step 2

Prepare 2 trivia sheets. One should have quotes from famous Black Americans in fill-in-the blank form and the other should have a list of Black History facts in multiple choice form.

  3. Step 3

Head to the grocery store and pick up an array of snacks and drinks for your guests. Set up a table with the food and drinks on the day of the event.

  4. Step 4

When guests arrive, allow them to help themselves to the food and drink table. When the majority of the guests have arrived, separate them into two groups and give each group the trivia sheets. Tell them they have 20 minutes to come together as a group and decide on the answers.

  5. Step 5

Once the sheets have been passed back to you, tally up the right answers, announce the answers, then declare the winning team. Hand the team the grand prize.

  6. Step 6

    Play the Roots DVD.
