How to Make a Copycat Dog Dessert

Dog treats come in every shape, size and texture. A few of the better ones come frozen and packaged like ice cream. Now you can make them yourself.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 64 ounces plain or vanilla yogurt
  • 1 can tuna
  • 2 jars of meat baby food
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 tablespoons peanut butter
  • small dixie cups
  • 1 mashed ripe banana
Step1
A patient people trainer. If your dog could ask for a treat by name, he/she would ask for Frosty Paws or Dog-Zertz. Both are masquerading as "ice cream" for dogs and both are purchased frozen.
Step2
A face that needs special treats Variation #1

Arrange Dixie cups in a cake pan and set aside.

Put 32 ounces of plain yogurt in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon honey, 1 very ripe banana and 2 tablespoons peanut butter. Mash together thoroughly.

Spoon into Dixie cups. Cover the cups lightly with aluminum foil and place in freezer for several hours.

To serve, peel the Dixie cup away from the frozen treat and hand it to your dog or put it in your dog's food dish.
Step3
This kind of loyalty is hard to come by Variation #2

Prepare Dixie cups as previously mentioned.

Combine 32 ounces vanilla yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons peanut butter and one can of drained tuna. Mash thoroughly. Spoon into Dixie cups and freeze.

Serve in same manner as variation #1
Step4
Doesn't look like a paper shredder, does he? Variation #3

Prepare Dixie cups as above.

Combine 32 ounces plain or vanilla yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 1 jar any meat baby food. Spoon into Dixie cups and freeze. Serve to your dog while frozen.

You could remove the paper, but your dog might want the pleasure of taking the paper off and chew that long after the treat is gone.

While paper is not usually intended as food, it won't be the first time a dog ate a wrapper. For that matter, children have been known to eat wrappers, too. If the Dixie cups are plastic rather than paper, cut the cup off the treat and discard it before giving the treat to your dog.

Tips & Warnings

  • You could eat these treats yourself, but your dog will appreciate them more than you will.
  • Once you start making these treats for your furry child, you might have to keep plenty on hand all the time. I hate to think what might happen if you run out and your best friend doesn't get proof of how well trained you are.
