How many husbands have to wait to eat until their wives cook for them?
Here’s what you do if she’s not home, still working, out with the girls or just doesn’t feel like cooking.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Some cooking skills
  • Kitchen utensils
  • Common sense
  • An easy recipe
  1. Step 1

Grab one of your kids for moral support if you have one old enough to assist you.

  2. Step 2

Check the freezer first for a main course, such as meat, fish, chicken, pork chops, etc. Pull out butter or margarine and some sliced cheese to make grilled cheese and soup!!

  3. Step 3

Take out some bread slices. You’ll need 2 slices for each sandwich, so plan accordingly if you are feeding anyone other than yourself.

  4. Step 4

Look in the pantry--there’s always chicken noodle soup there; again, 1 can will feed you, but pull out 2 to 3 cans for 3 or 4 persons.

  5. Step 5

Some soups need water added, some soups don’t. Read the cooking instructions on your soup before you heat. Follow all instructions accordingly. Heat soup slowly, as the grilled cheese sandwich will take a little longer than heating the soup.

  6. Step 6

Take out a griddle or skillet and set on stove at medium temperature (5 to 6, if numbered).

  7. Step 7

Butter one side of each slice of bread and place them face down based on how many sandwiches you are making.

  8. Step 8

Next, place a piece of cheese on top of the bread.

  9. Step 9

Again, butter one side of a slice of bread, and place it butter-side-up on the cheesed slice.

  10. Step 10

Let the bread grill on the griddle to become toasty buttery brown, then flip to accommodate the other side the same.

  11. Step 11

Serve soup in bowl(s), sandwich(es) on plate(s) and enjoy!!

Tips & Warnings
  • The art of grilled cheese is to cook slowly over medium heat. Do not scorch your grilled cheese!
  • You can also use salad dressing or mayonnaise instead of butter for added flavor.
  • Try adding a slice of ham or turkey with the cheese, or a tomato!!
  • Dippers--ranch dressing is always good for dipping anything, even grilled cheese!
