Did you just find a penpal? Do you want to know how to seal the bond between you two and create a friend for life? Here are some tips on how to be a good penpal.

  1. Step 1

    Find a penpal either through penpal clubs, want ads online, in magazines or through school. Try to pick someone who is around your age so that you can be on about the same level mentally.

  2. Step 2

    Dedicate to writing to your penpal long hand. In this world of email and word processors the personality of the person gets lost. Show your penpal who you really are by writing your letters long hand on fun stationary that suits your personality.

  3. Step 3

    Write back quickly and often. Don't read their letter put it down and wait weeks before writing back you will easily lose your bond that way.

  4. Step 4

    Educate yourself on your penpal's culture or surroundings. For example, if they are from another country research their country and that way you can have some educated things to ask them about. If they are in America, research their state and city where they live.

  • Be safe and make sure you don't give out too much personal information about yourself.
  • Get your parent's permission if you are under 18.
