How to Stay Good-Bye at the Workplace

Step1
Regardless of the circumstance of your leaving, your first responsibility is to let your employer know that you are resigning from your position. You do not want supervisors hearing rumors of your departure through the grapevine within the workplace.
Step2
Handle your resignation as careful as any other business endeavor. Do not burn bridges, because you never know when you will need your past employer as a reference.
Step3
Inform your co-workers that you are leaving the company. Send an email announcement to the co-workers that you know well, not necessarily to the entire company.
Step4
Do not include a long dissertation on how you hated your job and employer in general. Do not add that your new job is paying significantly higher than your current position. There is no need to criticize or brag; you want to move forward in a positive manner.
Step5
Mention projects that you have worked together on or special times that have been shared. A farewell email letter should be casual and personal rather than official.
Step6
Include personal contact information, such as email address and home phone number so co-workers can stay in touch.
