Things You'll Need:
- 3 tbsp. pure castile soap
- Distilled water-12 oz. for shampoo and 4 oz. for spray
- Lemon essential oil
- Rosemary essential oil
- Lavender essential oil
- 12 oz. sterile plastic container
- 4 oz. spray bottle
-
Step 1
The first thing to do to help treat greasy hair with essential oils is to make a shampoo. The shampoo will be gentle on the scalp and help the scalp produce excess oil. Take the 12 oz. plastic container and add the castile soap, 20 drops lemon essential oil, 15 drops rosemary essential oil and 15 drops lavender essential oil to the container.
-
Step 2
Next fill the container half way with the distilled water. Shake the bottle well to mix the soap into the water. Finish adding the rest of the distilled water to the container. You may need to wait a bit for the soap suds to settle in the container.
-
Step 3
Now, to make a spray that can be applied between shampooing to help with greasy hair. In the spray bottle add six drops lemon essential oil, five drops each of rosemary and lavender essential oil and the distilled water. You can shake the spray once the cover is on but you don’t need to shake it now because you will need to shake it before each use.
-
Step 4
Now that the shampoo and spray are finished you can use them to help treat greasy hair. Shampooing is the next step. Shampoo as you would with any other shampoo. It can be used daily if needed because it is gentle. You will need to shake the bottle to mix the oils in as needed.
-
Step 5
After shampooing use your normal conditioner and try not to apply too much styling product to the scalp. Hair sprays, gels, mousse and other styling products can irritate the scalp.
-
Step 6
During the day you may feel that your hair is getting greasy, this is when you can use the spray. The spray will not remove the excess oil but it will help treat the scalp to stop making the extra oil that’s causing the hair to become greasy. Plus the essential oils will give the hair a fresh scent.
-
Step 7
After continued use of the shampoo and spray you should start to see a difference in your greasy hair. Depending on the person this may be within just a few uses of the shampoo, others may take longer to notice any results.
