Things You'll Need:
- Time
- Money
- Imagination

Step 1
Talk to your loved one ahead of time. Before the inaudible horn sounds marking the beginning of the Valentine’s Day advertising frenzy, talk to your other half about her take on the holiday. Does she like to make a big deal out of it or does she despise all things cupid? Knowing this will help you come to a compromise early on if you are at odds.
-
Step 2
After your conversation you will probably have a good idea of whether you will be purchasing an expensive gift or if you will be exchanging less costly mementoes of love. Use the previous holiday season to gauge the type of gifts your guy would like to receive. It may seem hard to figure out what to get your Valentine, but if you think of the gifts that made him happiest during the holidays, you’ll be working with some good clues.

Step 3
Running low on cash? Instead of stressing about springing for an expensive dinner at a restaurant, get creative and make your own special Valentine’s Day dinner. Balloons, candles, confetti, champagne and strawberries make for a festive occasion when paired with a scrumptious dinner served with wine. There are plenty of cookbooks that serve up recipes specially geared towards Valentine’s Day.

Step 4
Relax and enjoy your loved one! Valentine’s Day is about spending time with and showing your love for the special people in your life. Although magazines, television and the internet can sometimes fool us into thinking that the holiday is all about the best and most expensive gifts, recognize that it’s a good Valentine’s Day if you are with the one you love--no matter what you give or receive!
