Artists should have their own business cards that display their artwork. It is great publicity, and they are easy to make yourself. Here's how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer and color printer
  • Photo editor and/or project maker (Photoshop, Photo Suite, Corel, Microsoft Works)
  • Card stock or pre-made business card paper that can be bought at any place that sells printer paper
  • Digital pictures or scanned pictures of your artwork
  1. Step 1

Create a project in your photo editor or project maker that is 3 by 1 1/2 inches. This is the average size of an business card. This project will be your business card when it is printed out.

  2. Step 2

Next, add your artwork image. You may want to crop the artwork image to make it have more impact. You may want to add a colored filter so that you can use several images and still have an overall color theme. As you can see from the image I used on my cards, I made a collage out of several images and then used a blue filter to make them match my color theme. I created this collage in a separate project, saved it and added to my card project.

  3. Step 3

Line the image up on the right side of the card or on the left.

  4. Step 4

Next, add the information you want to be on the card. You can put your address, phone number, website, email address or any other information you like. You can also leave out any information you don't feel comfortable sharing.

The information is placed on the opposite side of the card from the image.

  5. Step 5

When you print your card set the program to print multiple copies on one page. You can usually get nine business cards onto one sheet of card stock.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try not to use a font that is smaller than an 8 point for readability.
  • Make your name larger than the rest of the information.
  • Try to make your name a different color so that it stands out.
  • Try to only use one or two colors to keep your card looking professional. Don't go crazy!
