Snow days, snow days. Nothing says winter like a big hill covered in powder and everyone in the neighborhood hurling themselves down on discs and toboggans and discs made of metal or plastic. Thrill-seekers always want to have the fastest sled on the block.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • All-purpose household cleaner
  • A towel
  • Waxed paper or car wax

How to Wax a Toboggan

Step1
Make sure the toboggan is clean. Take any type of household cleaner and get the bottom free of debris. Make sure it's also completely dry.
Step2
Once your toboggan is clean, take the waxy side of your waxed paper or the car wax and rub every inch of the bottom of the sled. This creates a super smooth surface to prevent friction between you and the snow.
Step3
This can be done again and again, depending upon how many runs you plan (in this case the waxed paper is more portable and easier to use on your hill. Bring a towel along to dry the bottom of your toboggan to reapply the wax as needed. However, keep in mind, the more wax, the less friction and the more speed you’ll build.
Step4
Be careful!
