Step 1
Arrive early. The Cinco de Mayo Celebrate Culture Festival in Denver is held every year at the Civic Center Park starting at 10:00 a.m. There are no tickets available (everything is free), so the park tends to get packed early on and stay that way for the whole day.
-
Step 2
Contact the city's tourism department or Chamber of Commerce to ask for a program, although there is little chance you will know any of the people playing. The city prides itself for attracting up-and-coming artists during the festival, which in turn means a good balance of solo singers, Mariachi bands, dancers and traditional music.
-
Step 3
Be ready to walk around a lot. The area covered is large and comprises three stages and more than 350 exhibits ranging from live music to children's activities to arts and crafts. Traditional food and objects are also for sale throughout the 2 days of the Cinco de Mayo festival, so be prepared to spend.
-
Step 4
Visit the official website of the Community Development Corporation (CDC), which oversees the needs and interests of the Latino community in the city of Denver (see Resources below). The website offers exclusive information on the Cinco de Mayo Celebrate Culture Festival, including photos and data on the guest musicians who attend the festival every year.

Step 5
Bring something to showcase your respect for Mexican culture or buy something once you get there. Flags, hats or traditional ponchos are all great ways to keep warm (it may get chilly in the afternoon) while donning the Mexican colors.
