How to Set Up SBCglobal Email in Outlook Express
Outlook Express allows people to check a number of different email accounts from various providers. All you have to do is provide the proper information so the program knows where to look to find your email account. In just a few minutes, you can set up Outlook Express to check your SBCglobal email for you.

Find the Outlook Express icon on your desktop or in the "Start" menu of your computer, and click it (or double-click it) to open the program.

Wait a moment for the Internet Connection Wizard to help you through the setup process. If this isn't the first time using Outlook Express or the wizard doesn't start automatically, click the following options in order, "Tools," "Accounts," "Add" and "Mail."

Look for a black dot in the circle next to "Create a new Internet mail account." Click the circle if the dot isn't present. Click the "Next" button. If this isn't your first time using Outlook Express, you may not see this option.

Come up with a name for the SBCglobal email account, such as "SBC for ME," and type the account name in the box on the screen. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard or click the "Next" button.

Type your complete SBCglobal.net email address (everything before and after the "@" symbol) in the box asking for your email. Click the "Next" button at the bottom of the window or hit the "Enter" key.

Select the POP3 option from the drop-down menu next to "My incoming mail server is a."

Look for the box under "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server," and type in "pop.att.yahoo.com" in the box.

Add "smtp.att.yahoo.com" in the box near "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server," and click the "Next" button.

Specify your SBCglobal email account for Outlook Express to access. Type your full SBCglobal email address in the field next to "Account Name." Write your SBCglobal email password in the box next to the word "Password."

Choose whether or not you want Outlook Express to check your email for you automatically while using the program. Place a check mark in the box next to "Remember Password" to allow Outlook Express constant access to your email.

Finish the setup portion of the process with the wizard's help by clicking the "Next" and "Finish" buttons, respectively.

Set up the proper server ports for email. Click the newly created email account in the "Internet Accounts" window, and then click the "Properties" button.

Find the box next to "My server requires authentication," and click the box to place a check mark in it.

Find the "Settings" button, and click the button to open another pop-up window.

See whether the circle next to "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" has a dot in it (click the circle if it doesn't). Click the "OK" button.

Go to the "Advanced" tab located at the top of the "Properties" window. Find the fields for "Server Port Numbers." Type in "465" in the box for "Outgoing mail," and place a check mark in the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)." Add "995" to the field by "Incoming mail (POP3)," and place a check mark in the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)."

Set up the program officially by clicking the "OK" and "Close" buttons.

Tips & Warnings
If several people use the same computer, you may not want Outlook Express checking your email all of the time. Anyone using the computer can read all of your incoming emails and send messages if Outlook Express provides automatic access to the email account.
