Things You'll Need:
- Motocross bike
- Foam landing pit
- Protective gear
-
Step 1
Put your motorcycle on your trailer and take it to the local ramp you use to practice jumps. Spend some time making dry runs (non-trick jumps) and practicing some simple tricks to warm up.
-
Step 2
Think while you're in the air during your warm-up. Get a sense of how much time you spend in the air, and how long it will take you to perform the Holy Grab. This will help you get a sense of when you should begin and end your trick.
-
Step 3
Pull around to line up with the ramp for your first attempt. Stop and think through the entire sequence of steps you need to perform to do a Holy Grab successfully.
-
Step 4
Throttle up to jump speed and hit the ramp.
-
Step 5
Kick your feet up into the air off the pegs. You want your feet stretched out and lined up with your shoulders. Keep your feet horizontal to the ground.
-
Step 6
Release the handlebars, with both hands, pushing off lightly when you let go. During additional practice runs, you will need to work on how much to move the bike at this stage. For the first run, just barely release the handlebars.
-
Step 7
Stretch your arms out and fly above the motorcycle without any part of your body contacting the bike.
-
Step 8
Reach down and wrap your fingers around a grab hole to pull your body and the bike together again.
-
Step 9
Position you body back on the bike and look for your landing spot.
-
Step 10
Nail the landing after the Holy Grab. In competitions, the quality of the landing counts towards your score.
-
Step 11
Do the Holy Grab over and over to work on the timing and the amount of space you leave between yourself and your bike.
