Things You'll Need:
- Protective gear
- Foam pit
- Ramp
-
Step 1
Find an open space to practice your jumps. You may want to use a dirt ramp for softer landings or jump into a foam pit at first.
-
Step 2
Pedal up to jumping speed, and approach the ramp. Do not attempt the nac-nac the first time. You want to get a feel for how long you will be in the air and how much time you will have to do the nac-nac.
-
Step 3
Make another dry run on the ramp. This time, picture yourself doing the nac-nac in the air in accordance with the amount of time you have. You will save yourself some bumps and bruises by getting a good understanding of what you want to do before you actually do it.
-
Step 4
Line up in front of the ramp to prepare for the nac-nac trick. Imagine yourself hitting the ramp at the proper speed, performing the nac-nac and landing properly. Even the professionals talk about how much better they jump with the proper visualizations. You are telling your body what to do ahead of time.
-
Step 5
Pedal to get up to the speed you have established through the previous jumps.
-
Step 6
Lift your right foot off the right pedal when the BMX bike leaves the lip of the ramp.
-
Step 7
Swing the back of the bike to the right, and move your right leg around the back of the bike. (In a can-can, you move your leg in front of your body, instead of behind it.) You should look like you are stepping off of your bike (or like you are dismounting a horse).
-
Step 8
Leave your left foot on the pedal and your hands on the handlebars.
-
Step 9
Hold your position for a split second (go for longer times the better you get at the nac-nac), with your entire body on the left side of the bike.
-
Step 10
Swing the bike back to the left, and swing your right leg back to the right side of the bike.
-
Step 11
Return your right foot to the right pedal and look for your landing spot.
-
Step 12
Land the bike with both wheels touching the ground or landing ramp at the same time.
