How to Add a New Contact in Trillian
Trillian gives you the power to speak to anyone via instant messaging provided you have his contact information. When you first sign on to Trillian and include your login information, the application scans your contacts and automatically adds those already present. Whenever you get a new contact, it's easy to add him using Trillian's menu system, and he'll appear in your contact list in seconds.

Download and install Trillian from the Cerulean Studios main website (see Resources below). Follow the on-screen prompts during the installation process, and add your existing account information during setup. Your old contacts will be added automatically.

Load Trillian by clicking on its icon on your desktop or access it via your Start menu. Update Trillian whenever prompted by the splash menu.

Click the "Trillian" menu option from the menu bar. A drop-down menu will appear.

Click the "Add a Contact or Group" menu option.

Choose the "Add Contacts or Group" button in the next menu. The "Import Contacts" button is usually grayed out, but if you have a .csv file containing your contacts you can add them all at once.

Click "Next."

Select the Root for your new contact. Do this by highlighting where in your contact list you want the new contact to appear. For example, if your new contact is a friend you can place him under "Friends," or if he's a family member you can drop him in "Family." If you want to create a new group just click the "Create New Group" button, type a group name and click "OK."

Choose the medium for your new contact by clicking the "Medium" drop-down menu and choosing the server type. For example, if your new contact uses MSN Messenger, then highlight the MSN option.

Type the contact into the text box. The contact information should be the email address associated with the instant messaging server.

Click the "Add" button once you've entered the contact information.

Continue to input new contacts and press "Add" until you've added each of your new available contacts.

Tips & Warnings
While it's possible to link more than one account using the same server (several Yahoo! email addresses, for example), try to limit it to one per server. This helps prevent duplicate contacts from becoming an issue.
Be aware that adding a new contact to your address book doesn't automatically update the address book of your contact. You'll still need to make sure he's aware of who you are when you send him messages or he may think you're a stranger.
