How to Use Trillian on an IPhone

The iPhone represents a huge leap forward in communications and personal data assistant devices. Not only can we call our friends and family, we can keep a schedule, track the news and weather and even access the Internet. Things You’ll Need:

• Trillian for iPhone

1. Turn on your iPhone as you normally would. In order to access Trillian using your iPhone be sure you're near a tower and can receive a strong signal (an active connection is necessary).
2. Access the Internet on your iPhone and head to the main website for Cerulean Studios (see Resources below).
3. Download Trillian Astra onto your iPhone and wait for the application to install. Depending on your signal strength this can take several minutes.
4. Load Trillian Astra by touching its icon in your iPhone menu. Once it loads, it will bring up your login window. If you've never logged in before it will prompt you to include your instant messaging IDs.
5. Wait for Trillian Astra to finish loading and logging you in. Again, signal strength will affect connection speed.
6. Double-click the name of a contact with whom you wish to exchange an instant message. The list of contacts will be organized by IM server (Yahoo! users under the Yahoo! banner, for example.)
7. Type your message using the iPhone's keyboard interface.
8. Press the "Send" button on the Trillian interface.
9. Open or close message windows by pressing on them. The icons will change when new messages are received, and you'll hear a sound indicating that a message has arrived.

Tips & Warnings

• Save the login information you use in Trillian so that it will log in automatically the next time you start the service. This saves you time by eliminating the need to log in each account manually.
• Be aware that when you use Trillian or any application frequently, you're draining the battery at a much higher rate than you would when you use your iPhone more casually. Keep a charger nearby and be sure to pay attention to your available power level or you'll be without power when you need to use the phone in an emergency.
