How to Add Email Addresses to Your Earthlink Account

Earthlink allows people to add email addresses for everyone in the family (up to eight addresses). Many people use separate email addresses to manage information. You can use one address for communication only with family and friends, limiting the junk mail for this account. Use a second address for online purchases and joining websites requiring an email address as part of the sign up process.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

1. Go to your Earthlink account on the Web (see Resources below).
2. Type your full Earthlink email address in the white box under "Email Address (or EarthLink ID)."
3. Add your Earthlink password in the next empty white box below your email address.
4. Access your Earthlink account by clicking the "Sign In" button.
5. Locate the list of links, and click the "Email Profiles" link.
6. Find the link titled "Add a new email profile," and click it to add addresses to your Earthlink account.
7. Type in the first and last name of the account holder in the appropriate boxes to the right of the corresponding field names.
8. Create a unique email address for the new address. Earthlink email addresses can have up to 32 characters and can use letters, numbers, periods, dashes and underscores. The email address must start and finish with a letter or number.
9. Type in a unique password in the boxes for "New Password" and "Confirm New Password." The password should consist of 4 to 8 letters and/or numbers. Combine letters and numbers and avoid common words to make the password more secure.
10. Look at the "Verification Code" graphic to see the combination of letters and/or numbers in the picture. Type the letters/numbers in order from left to right in the box under "Enter the text shown above." Click the "Add Email Profile" button.
11. Finalize the new email address by clicking the "OK" button.

Tips & Warnings

• Select the "Turn on Parental Controls" button to protect children from harmful emails. You can select various options to specify how emails should be screened.
• It can take up to 20 minutes for the new Earthlink email addresses to become usable.
• Delete email from your account on a regular basis to make sure the account stays well below the 100MB limit for storage space.
