Mac users can install the Eudora email client by following a series of relatively easy steps that usually don't require any troubleshooting to complete successfully. Newer versions of Eudora can even be installed right over old ones, which can save you the trouble of having to perform a new installation from scratch.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Install Eudora on a Mac Classic Operating System

Step1
Download Eudora. Once the operation finishes, a window will automatically expand and present you with an "Options" menu. Select "Eudora 6.0C Site." Click on "Continue" to be redirected to a new screen known as the "splash screen."
Step2
Print the "readme" file that will appear on the next screen. It contains information you may want to refer to later.
Step3
Accept the licensing agreement after reading and agreeing to the terms and conditions set forth therein.
Step4
Proceed to installing Eudora by following the prompts.
Step5
Install the Eudora file folder into the "Applications" folder on your Mac desktop.
Step6
Make Eudora your default email application, if desired, by clicking "Yes" when asked. Otherwise, click "No."
Step7
Complete the installation by clicking on the dialogue box informing you that the installation was successful. Then, you can open Eudora and configure your new email account.

Install Eudora on a Mac OS-X System

Step1
Double-click on "Eudora621OSX.sitx.bin" once your download is completed and Eudora has automatically expanded.
Step2
Start the installation by clicking on the Eudora icon. Select "Continue" when prompted and read the information that appears on the "readme" screen.
Step3
Read and accept the licensing agreement.
Step4
Choose an install type. You can create a "New Install" or a "Custom Install." Choose the former option if this is your first time downloading and using Eudora on your Mac. Opt for a "Custom Install" if you want to upgrade a previous version of Eudora. To do this, you will have to select the "Update an existing version to 6.2.1 for OS X" option, and click the "Documentation" box.
Step5
Choose a folder into which to copy the Eudora program files.
Step6
Decide whether or not you want to use Eudora as your default email client by clicking "Yes" or "No," as you prefer.

Tips & Warnings

  • If in doubt, install Eudora as a new installation. This will prevent you from any potential pitfalls associated with updating earlier versions.
  • You must use Eudora version 6.0, 6.2.1 or higher if you wish to install the Eudora client directly over an earlier version. However, you must install the new version of Eudora in "Classic Mode," or the computer will not be able to complete the operation.
