Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Eudora Worldmail 2 server software
Step1
Keep in mind that Worldmail 3 may be branded under the name "MailSite" or "MailSite SE." Eudora rebranded the Worldmail name as MailSite following the launch of Worldmail 3, and the Worldmail 3 product is sometimes sold under the MailSite name, though the two server software products are identical in function.
Step2
Go to the computer where Worldmail 2 was initially installed to upgrade an entire network.
Step3
Install the Worldmail 3 files into a different directory than you use for Worldmail 2. Keep the Worldmail 2 files intact.
Step4
Click on the "Start" button, click on "Run," type "cmd" (short for "command") and click "OK."
Step5
Click through to your Worldmail 3 directory by selecting the Worldmail 3 program files from the location to which you downloaded them. By default, the program creates a dedicated directory in your "Program Files" folder on your "C:" drive (in Windows).
Step6
Engage the command utility known as "MsconvUser2" from the "cmd" feature of your Windows "Start" menu. Use the following syntax to export the Worldmail 2 information into the new Worldmail 3 application: "MsconvUser2.exe -m WorldMail -o
-b---x -w ." The "" command will be used to specify the file you want to export, which is usually the "targetfile.xml." The "" commands indicate the location of each respective version's program files, which are set up by default in your "C:/Program Files" directory.
Step7
Use the "MsImportExport" utility to import your Worldmail 2 information into Worldmail 3. Using the command line again (obtained by clicking on "Start," selecting "Run" and typing "cmd"), type the following command: "MsImportExport.exe -import filename.xml -server -domains -mailboxes."
Step8
Convert your existing Worldmail 2 email into Worldmail 3 with the "msconv2" command line utility. In the "cmd" feature, type: "msconv2 -s WorldMail -d
." The "" field can be left blank. If it is, Worldmail 3 will simply import everything from Worldmail 2, regardless of its specified domain.
