How to Check Comcast Email on an IPhone

The iPhone burst onto the scene June 29, 2007 amid a flurry of excitement and anticipation. This revolutionary phone incorporates a cell phone, camera, media player, text messenger and visual voicemail capabilities. You can also check your Comcast email on an iPhone via Wi-Fi and surf the web. The iPhone is like carrying a mini Mac computer with you everywhere you go and then some.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

1. Start at the "Home" screen on the iPhone and tap "Settings."
2. Edit the settings for email by tapping the mail icon (a white envelope on a blue sky).
3. Choose the "Add Account..." option at the top of the screen by tapping it.
4. Look at the bottom of the screen and tap "Other" because Comcast email isn't listed.
5. Select the proper type of email to work with your Comcast account by tapping "POP."
6. Insert your name beside "Name" by tapping the screen in the appropriate box.
7. Type in your Comcast email address in the space provided by tapping the "Address" box. Provide your entire email address, such as [e-mail].
8. Place the stylus on the screen and drag it down until you see "Incoming Mail Server."
9. Tap the area for the "Host Name" and type in "mail.comcast.net" as your email server.
10. Add your user name (everything before the @ symbol in your email address) by tapping the "User Name" box and typing in the name.
11. Input the password to your Comcast email account by tapping the screen on the "Password" box. Without the proper password, you can't check your Comcast email.
12. Place the stylus on the screen and drag it down until you see "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" on the screen. The outgoing mail server allows you to send email from your iPhone.
13. Tap beside "Host Name" and type in "smtp.comcast.net:465" in the box.
14. Add your user name and password for your Comcast email account like you did for the incoming mail server.
15. Apply the changes you made by tapping "Save" on the screen.
16. Wait for the iPhone to check and verify the settings you provided. If there are any problems, you will be directed to correct them.
17. Watch the screen to see if the iPhone takes you to the "Mail" screen to know you successfully set up your Comcast email on your iPhone.
18. Check your email by tapping the "Mail" icon on the home screen.
