In judo, a morote seoinage is a move in which a fighter uses both arms to throw an opponent over his shoulder. The secret to a successful morote seoinage is speed, with the sudden, twisting motion used to surprise your opponent.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you are going to throw your opponent to the right or the left. If you're going to the right, grab your opponent's lapel or shirt in your right hand, and grab your opponent's sleeve at the elbow with your left. Use the opposite hand position if you're throwing your opponent to the left.

  2. Step 2

Firmly grip with both hands and place your corresponding foot forward (the left foot for a left throw and the right foot for a right throw). Bend your knee slightly and start to pivot your body away from your opponent.

  3. Step 3

Wedge your elbow underneath the shoulder of your opponent as you continue to pivot your leg. Place your other foot close to your opponent's corresponding foot for leverage and balance.

  4. Step 4

Allow the wrist that is holding your opponent's lapel to bend back slightly as you complete the pivot. You'll get an even better grip when the fabric begins to wrap around your hand.

  5. Step 5

Lower your head as you complete the pivot, forcing your back into your opponent's torso as the twisting motion is completed. Ensure that your footing is solid before you try to lift your opponent off the ground.

  6. Step 6

Bend both knees at the same time, so that your body can get underneath your opponent. As you stand up straight, your opponent's feet should leave the ground, and the momentum should cause his body to rotate over your shoulder.

  7. Step 7

Throw your opponent's body forward and over your shoulder. Remember to loosen your grip once you do the morote seoinage judo move. If you don't, you may be dragged to the floor as well.

  8. Step 8

Repeat the move until you have become fluid and quick with the pivot, surprising your opponent.

Tips & Warnings
