  1. Step 1

Visit the Professional Disc Golf Association website regularly for updated schedules of upcoming sanctioned flying disc golf tournaments (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Fill out the entry form and pay your entry fee by the deadline. Deadlines are strictly enforced. For many tournaments you can sign up and pay online, while others require you to turn in the entry form to local tournament organizers.

  3. Step 3

Find a teammate of a similar skill level to enter with. You may also sign up for singles play.

  4. Step 4

Check eligibility standards and qualification requirements. For some tournaments you may need to play qualifying rounds or receive an invitation for an invitational tournament.

  5. Step 5

Request a list of other tournament participants. You can see player rankings and standings on the PDGA website.

  6. Step 6

Drive around to courses in your hometown. Not all tournaments will be posted online, but most courses have a message board on which upcoming events will be advertised.

  7. Prepare to Enter a Disc Golf Competition

  8. Step 1

Get in shape to play a multi-day tournament. Remember that many of the players who compete are dedicated to the sport and train year round. Lose extra pounds and try to put on some muscle in order to keep up with the pros. Build up your legs. You'll do a lot of walking on the course, and that can sap your stamina if you're not accustomed to it

  9. Step 2

Practice in all types of weather and environments. You never know what the day will bring and competitions are rarely cancelled.

  10. Step 3

Get plenty of sleep the night before and show up early to warm up and stretch.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't forget that many of the players you'll meet at tournaments are extremely competitive, die-hard disc golfers. Any attempt to cheat or shave strokes will get you disqualified.
