Those who have straight hair want curly and those with curly hair dream of having a straight locks. For those looking for curly hair, you have likely tried irons, curlers, and just about anything else to get that curl. Well, sometimes you have to go back to a time when getting curl meant something other than plugging in a device. Try rag ties!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An old pillowcase or cotton tablecloth
  • Scissors
  • A brush or comb

    How to Get More Curl than you Will Know What to do With

  1. Step 1

    Cut the pillowcase or tablecloth into strips of about 8-10 inches. By no means do they have to be perfect and if you hair is shorter then make them a bit smaller.

  2. Step 2

    Tie a double knot in the very center of the strip. Now you should have many pieces of cloth that are about 1x10 each and have a double knot in the center of each piece. How many pieces that you should have should depend on how much hair you have.

  3. Step 3

    Brush out your hair so it is completely tangle free. You want to begin with hair that is literally almost dry.

  4. Step 4

    Grab a small, brushed, and slightly damp section of hair and wrap the end of your hair around the knot on the cloth.

  5. Step 5

    Roll your hair up as far as you can and then simply double knot the ends together.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is so much easier to sleep on than curlers would be.
  • You would want to put these rag ties in your hair as early as the evening before and sleep on them overnight.
  • This method is going to produce a lot of curl.
