Whether it's work, family or everything put together, it's important to make the best of your time.

Here's a few tips to make things go a little more smoothly.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Patience
  • Persistence
  • Dedication
  • Creativity
  1. Step 1

First off, you have to take a good look at your life. Examine all aspects that take your time and set priorities. Once you know what is the most important to you, then you know what to work toward.

  2. Step 2

Now that you've set your priorities, you need to work toward them. If you have decided that you want to spend less time at work and more time with your family. Then do it. I know it sounds easier than it really may be, but if you want it bad enough, you will find a way.

For example, the next time you are offered overtime pay - which means more hours away from the family - say no. Yes, the money might be a good help in the short term, but life is short and you will never get those lost hours back.

If it's a priority, then really make it one.

  3. Step 3

Some times you can't get out of that work meeting, or you may be separated by the military. That doesn't mean you can't still stick to your priorities. Be creative. Spend time via email, Web cam or through old-fashioned snail mail.

  4. Step 4

If you make other aspects of your life a priority, for example, writing a novel. Then set aside the time to do it. Laundry and other house keeping can wait if you want to write bad enough.

Just remember that when you set priorities, then don't mean anything unless you actually stick to them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Write down your priorities and put them on your night stand, refrigerator or bathroom mirror. Put them some place where you are sure to see them everyday and stick to them.
