How to Wear a Pashmina

How to Wear a Pashminathumbnail
Pashminas come in a variety of colors and patterns.

The pashmina scarf has evolved from a simple shawl to an elegant accessory that can be worn in a variety of ways. The name comes from the Persian word for cashmere, and typically the scarf is made of cashmere, silk or a combination. No matter what color or material your pashmina scarf is made of, you can wear it in a variety of ways to create an entirely new look in a matter of minutes.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Pasmina scarf
    • A single-color outfit
    • Mirror
      • 1

Wrap the pashmina across your body diagonally and tie it at the side to create a sash.

      • 2

Wrap it around your head and tie it in front to secure it as a headscarf. This is a classic look and you can wear it in this way on a windy day to keep your hair in place.

      • 3

Wear the pashmina around your neck with one end over your shoulder as a classic scarf. This adds a touch of color to your neckline, and one side can be left hanging down.

      • 4

Wrap it around your shoulders and tie it as a knotted shawl.

      • 5

Create a two-toned effect by twisting two pashmina scarves together.

      • 6

Let the ends of the pashmina hang behind you and leave the scarf tied around your neck.

      • 7

Create a ladylike shawl out of the pashmina. This is the “original” pashmina look that has been worn for decades. Wear the pashmina as a shawl to accent a sleeveless dress or top for the evening.

Wear the pashmina around your waist as a belt and let one side hang down.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Authentic pashmina fabric should be dry cleaned.

    • Keep the pashmina in a cool, dry place when it's not in use.

    • Choose pashmina scarves that are lined with silk and made with a cashmere blend for the long-term use.

    • Avoid ironing the pashmina because of its delicate fabric construction
