How to Survive Gossip

Malicious gossip and propaganda can often seem hurtful and cruel, but as long as you believe in yourself, the idle rumors and vicious remarks eventually dissipate like water.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Channel your energies away from naysayers and people who do not wish you the very best. Jealousy is usually the motive behind cruel words and assumptions, so just remember that empty vessels make the most negative noise.
Step2
If the gossip becomes absurd and preposterous, set the record straight!
Find a diplomatic way to confront your critics. When lies have been fabricated without a basis or foundation, the instigator usually denies the untruths when addressed properly.
Step3
Sometimes you may have to fight fire with fire. Instead of stooping to their level and making up stories, reveal some devastating truths about the person who is spreading the rumors. They will realize when the shoe is on the other foot, it can be quite an uncomfortable experience.
Step4
Lies, rumors and gossip are usually spread by people who have something to gain by defaming you. Therefore, hold your head high and don't let them win!

Tips & Warnings

  • Decent, self-respecting people do not have time to discredit others, so consider gossipers to be a small percentage of a secret society who don't have much going for themselves.
  • Remember people who care for you are nurturing and will try to build you up with positivity.
  • Hateful words and actions only hates the hater and eventually eats them up inside. They will become toxic and taint everything and everyone around them.
  • Stay away from negative people and gossip mongers!
