User Account Control improves the security on Windows Vista, but under some scenarios we might want to disable it, for example when showing demos that are not security related. Some home users might be tempted to disable UAC because of the additional mouse clicking it brings into their system.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Open the Contol Panel. To open it, type control in Start-->Run and press Enter.
Step2
Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account".
Step3
Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account.
Step4
Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.
Step5
Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link.
Step6
In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.
Step7
You will be prompted to reboot your computer.

on 1/9/2008 I agree, it is a hassle. Most users I come in contact with do not need or want this level of security. It's about time an article like this was posted, thank you!
