Things You'll Need:
- Vanilla Beans
- Sugar

Step 1
Split a vanilla bean down the middle, so that it stays open. So - end to end.

Scrape out some of the seeds and mash them up into the sugar with your fingers.

Place the seeds and the pod in a jar and cover it with granulated sugar. I usually store it in a nice decorated jar - makes a great conversation piece.

Step 4
Let the sugar sit for at least 2-3 weeks - shaking it as often as you think about it and unclumping it if it starts to clump. That's all there is to it!
