How to Make a Greeting Card Collage

Greeting cards are given for all occasions, and some of them are too pretty to throw away. Others are meaningful, having a special sentimental value. Instead of storing them in a shoebox or other container, the best can be used to make a collage that can be framed or simply hung on a wall.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Beautiful or meaningful greeting cards
• Poster board
• Glue stick
• Frame or other material for border

1. Choose your favorite greeting cards. They do not have to be all seasonal, but the ones most meaningful to you.
2. Lay the cards out on a tabletop. Try various patterns that show each card at its best.
3. Measure the final layout to determine the width and height of the poster board you will need to mount the cards.
4. Cut the poster board, or other heavy backing material, to the size needed.
5. Use the glue stick on the back of each greeting card and press the card into place on the poster board.
6. Add a frame or other distinctive border to the collage.
7. Hang the collage on the wall and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

• You can make seasonal collages that can be stored away for the next holiday, i.e., Christmas or Valentines.
• Fabric, cut with pinking shears or other decorative edge, makes a wonderful border.
• Wallpaper borders make distinctive borders for collages also.
• Using decorative edge scissors, the cards can be cut into pretty shapes before mounting.
• Thin cardboard can be used in place of the poster board.
