Not everyone can afford a large house which means that often there is at least one closet whose size is so miniscule it almost borders on comical.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Purchase hanging shoe racks. Store shoes, the right foot on top of the left foot facing heel to toe, in one rack.

  2. Step 2

Store folded t-shirts, night shirts and sweaters in another shoe rack.

  3. Step 3

Designate one hanger a piece for; strappy dresses, shirtdresses, strapless dresses, tank tops, club shirts, halter tops and bras, sportsbras and bikinis.

  4. Step 4

Place undershirts, socks, hats, scarves and gloves in a plastic, three-drawer stand.

  5. Step 5

Organize coats according to size, shape and frequency of use and place them on the appropriate hanger, storing about three coats per hanger, depending on how heavy they are.

  6. Step 6

Place all jewelery and accessories in a travel jewelery container. You may even be able to store this in the bathroom.

  7. Step 7

Organize bags on hooks or place all the bags inside of one larger bag to condense space.

  8. Step 8

Store all jeans and other bottoms (except for underwear) on the shelf above your closet rack. Organize according to what style: jeans, work pants, long skirts, sweats.

  9. Step 9

Place underwear in two plastic bags: one for daytime wear and one for nighttime wear. Keep these bags either on a hanger or under one of the shoe racks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Go through your closet every season and get rid of items that are no longer weather appropriate, such as scarves or bikinis. These items can be put into storage, sold or donated.
