How to Change Your History Settings for Internet Explorer

Is your computer slow or are you trying to find out what websites your child has been surfing? Maybe you can't remember that website that you found late last night. Maintain your Internet history so you can locate sites, or remove sites after a set period of time.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new Web browser. Click on "Tools" in the toolbar.

    • 2

      Select "Internet Options."

    • 3

On the tab marked "General," locate the section for "History."

    • 4

Pick an amount of days to keep your history in the drop-down menu.

    • 5

Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes and close the window.

Tips & Warnings

  • To view your history, press and hold the "Control" and "H" keys while in an Internet Explorer window.

  • There are other options to track history and this is not the best for a child monitor as most learn to delete their history in the most basic computer class. Check into Google Desktop or there is a piece of hardware (a wire) that you can connect between the main case and keyboard to log what keys are pushed.
