This is a great way to start building a toy town, where you can create buildings out of the simplest of materials--mud. The best part about it is--it's free!
Find an area outside that is free of debris and is out of the way of heavy foot traffic.
Step2
If you already have your roads set from my previous article, pick an area near the road for your area to build the mud house.
Step3
mix water and dirt in the bucket to create a thick mud. Too much water will cause the mud to be too runny, but not enough water will cause the mud to be too thick.
Step4
Pull out some mud and start turning it into a brick by rotating it in your hand. The hand posture is much like holding a harmonica. Continue shaping the brick until you have a nice rectangular box.
Step5
Lay the finished brick down in the sun where it can dry and start over at step one until you have many bricks.
Step6
Once you have many bricks, you can start stacking them to create your building. Make sure to leave a doorway to make it more realistic. Be creative with the building and stack them as if they were legos.
Step7
Once the walls are up, choose something for the roof. Many things can be used, such as tree bark or twigs.
Tips & Warnings
The key is in the mixture of the mud! This step is different depending on the type of soil in your yard. Practice makes better so keep trying until you have found the right mix.
