Most kids are a pleasure to have around. They play quietly with your son or daughter and are generally polite. But there is often one who is loud and obnoxious. How do you deal with him without hurting his feelings? Read on to learn how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Control of your temper
  • Place to hide

Step1
Avoid the kid if at all possible. Go to your room and close the door. There is no simpler way to prevent an annoying child from annoying you.
Step2
Start kindly. Sit down with the child and let her know that she is annoying you. Tell her nicely, but in no uncertain terms, to behave herself.
Step3
If a child is determined to annoy you, give him a time out. Just because he is not your kid, that doesn't mean he can't be disciplined.
Step4
Threaten to inform his parents that he behaved poorly and mean it. There is no more effective remedy than threatening to get the child's parents involved.
Step5
Tell the annoying child that she will no longer be invited over if she doesn't improve her behavior, nor will your child be allowed to visit her home. Follow through with your threat if she indeed continues to be rude and inconsiderate.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always try being nice at first. A child might be annoying you just to get attention. Give positive feedback or play a game with both kids to foster a more positive relationship. That should result in more thoughtful and considerate behavior.
  • Many children are sensitive. You are the adult, so don't ever insult or degrade the child in question. That could lead to permanent emotional damage.
