Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Time to shop around
- Patience to wait for the right item
- A good eye
- A creative design
Step1
First you have to come up with a theme. This can be something that is easily found in stores, such as Disney or Looney Tunes, or something more eccentric, like Bob the Builder or My Little Pony.
Once you have a theme, you can start shopping.
Step2
Shopping for a nursery can be fun, you just have to remember to be on the look out for everything. If you picked a common theme, finding things that go with it is usually simple.
If you picked something off the beaten path, then you need to shop a little harder. For example, you may not find a baby quilt in your desired pattern. This means, you can make one, or come up with a new idea.
For example, instead of hanging a quilt on the wall, scan the posters at the store and see if you can find something in your theme.
Step3
Picking up those little baby things can really add up, so shop smart. Several cities have baby consignment or resale shops. These can be found with a quick check of your yellow pages.
Many of these stores have items that are new with tags, but at discounted prices. Others strictly have used items. Shop smart, checking for tears, stains or other defects. Almost all baby items can go right into the washer. That way you know it's clean and fresh for your little one.
Step4
Try to think outside of the box. Stuffed animals, posters and other items can add color to a nursery. Try to be creative. Several themes can be found in cross stitch patterns or latch hook so you could have something hand made for your little one.
Step5
In addition to looking for things for the walls, look for something for the windows. Putting something pretty and pink or lovely and blue over the window will really turn the area into a nursery.
