Do you know that 70 percent of people are angry about something? Imagine, more than half the people you will come in contact today will be angry. Are you mad at someone who hurt you badly, who treated you unfairly? You were hurt and held on to it but today, years later, you are still carrying it. Over the years, has the pain intensified until bitterness has replaced the hurt and taken root in your heart? Do you feel miserable inside but do not know what to do about it? Do not allow one more day to pass lugging the baggage of the past. Read on to learn how to let go of bitterness.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • An open heart
  • The courage to forgive

Step1
Let go of the anger. You may not realize it, but when you harbor anger in your heart, you are only poisoning your own life. You are not hurting the other person who did you wrong, you are hurting yourself. Staying angry cannot change the past, it cannot change what was done to you.
Step2
Don't bury your hurt and pain. You must learn to dig deep. Do not only deal with the external issues. Go beyond the surface of your heart all the way to its caverns and air it out. Let all the feelings of hurt, humiliation, rejection and pain go. They are not doing you any good.
Step3
Do no make room in your heart for bitterness. Do not accept it when it knocks on the door of your soul, and it will. Do not allow your soul to become polluted. Being bitter is not who you are, it is simply a feeling, an emotion you have accepted. You determine how you will react to a certain situation, not your feelings.
Step4
Forgive with all your heart and set yourself free. Until you forgive, you will be in bondage, in prison, for the rest of your life. The walls of bitterness are impenetrable and your dreams will not be able to pass through, nor the other good qualities you possess in abundance.
Step5
Let the bitterness go and give it to God. He is strong enough to carry the toxic waste corroding your heart. Trust God to make all your wrongs right.

Tips & Warnings

  • God is your vindicator. Pray for those who hurt you, for God does not take it kindly when someone mistreats His children.
