1. The first thing you need to be a Panthers fan is an understanding of defensive football. The Panthers build everything around the defense, and this makes the games seem slow sometimes. If you understand how the defense works, then the games are much more exciting.
2. You simply must understand that the Panthers will give you exactly seven heart attacks per year. They always find a way to make every game close even when they should win in a blowout. This can be very hard on a Panther fan.
3. You must have a thick skin, and be prepared to be teased when you mention you are a Panther fan outside of Carolina. No one else seems to respect us, which makes winning that much sweeter.
4. You must be willing to be faithful to the team even when the Panthers are down by six with 30 seconds to go. Again, the Panthers like to make things interesting.
5. Finally, you must like Bojangle's Fried Chicken, as virtually every star player for the Panthers is a spokesman. Sport your Panthers gear and your fried chicken with pride Panther fans!
