Tired of steamed broccoli? Upgrade! It’s easy to fix broccoli that will make you and your family love eating this healthy green vegetable.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Broccoli, cut into pieces
  • Garlic, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, just enough to lightly coat the broccoli
  1. Step 1

Heat oven to 475 degrees F.

  2. Step 2

Mix all of your ingredients together in a bowl. Let stand for 15 minutes--less or more is ok, depending on how much time you have for preparation.

  3. Step 3

Place oiled, seasoned broccoli in a single layer in a very shallow pan (like a cookie sheet).

  4. Step 4

Bake in hot oven for 5 minutes, stir and return to oven.

  5. Step 5

Repeat Step Four until broccoli reaches desired doneness. It should be brown and crispy around the edges.

Tips & Warnings
  • Fresh broccoli works better than frozen for this dish and fresh garlic is better than powder.
  • The amount of oil is one of the critical factors in success—enough to coat thoroughly, not enough to soak.
  • You can substitute or add cauliflower in this recipe.
  • This same recipe also can be used with root vegetables. I like a mix of potatoes, carrots, onions, even turnips and rutabagas.
  • If the sides of your baking pan are too high, the broccoli will just steam and not get crispy.
