How to Decorate Flip Flops for a Slumber Party Activity

Flip flops are all the rage these days, especially among tween girls. Their comfort and versatility make them a hit for almost every occasion. Decorating flip flops and designing your own distinctive shoe is sure to be a success at your next slumber party or celebration.

Things You’ll Need:

• Flip flop sandals
• Ribbon or strips of material
• Accessories (silk flowers, metal charms, beads)

1. Cut ribbon or material into strips making them long enough so that you can tie them around the base of the flip flop shoe.
2. Decide on a color scheme. Make your flip flops match a particular outfit or make them stand out in a crowd. The fun part is that you can design them as colorfully as you want.
3. Tie the ribbons or material scraps around the base of the flip flop (the plastic part that holds the foot on the shoe).
4. Cover the flip flops with as many colorful strips as you want. The more ribbon and material strips, the better it looks. Slide the strips close together to give the shoes a thick covering.

Tips & Warnings

• Tie the material strips and/or ribbon into knots so they don’t come undone on the shoe.
• Foam shapes are another accessory you can use to decorate your flip flop sandals. Attach small foam shapes and to the knots in your material on top of the flip flop.
