How to Make Apricot Body Lotion

This homemade body lotion takes a little work, but the delicious smelling results are worth it. Make sure you use fresh ingredients and take precautions against burning yourself during the heating processes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 6 dried apricots
  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 1 ounce grated beeswax
  • 1 cup apricot oil
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup aloe vera gel
  • contents of 5 vitamin E capsules

Step1
Bring water and dried apricots to a boil and let simmer for 20 minutes. Let cool.
Step2
Over low heat, cook beeswax, apricot oil and coconut oil for 10 minutes. Pour into glass container.
Step3
In a blender, whip water and apricots until smooth. Strain mixture. Put the liquid back in the blender and throw out any solids.
Step4
Add aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil and blend at low speed.
Step5
Slowly pour in beeswax mixture and blend at a low speed until it has the same consistency as frosting.
Step6
Leave in cool place to thicken.

on 3/18/2008 There is no preservative in this recipe so it will have a very short shelf life. Be sure to keep in refrigerator to make it harder for bacteria to grow.
