How to Break a Relationship

Some relationships are not worth having. Whether it is time to break a relationship with a friend, family member, or acquaintance, the time is now. There are a few reasons that breaking a relationship is necessary. If you are at the point where you realize that this relationship must end their is probably good reason. So take action into your own hands and end it. Breaking a relationship is difficult, and the longer you wait the harder it will be.

  1. Step 1

    Cutting off all ties with someone is a hard thing to do. It is necessary though when breaking a relationship. So go ahead and figure out all ties that you have with this person. Whether you share possession, friends, or feelings, you must figure out what is yours and what is theirs.

  2. Step 2

    Once you have figured out the shared aspects in your relationship, it is time to split them up. Whether it is in your head or on paper, if this is really going to happen it must happen quickly. It is a good idea to discuss this with the person you are breaking the relationship with.

  3. Step 3

    Although it is hard to end any relationship for any reason it must happen. It becomes more difficult the longer you wait. So figure out how you are going to end it and get it done. Whether your conversation is going to be over the phone or face to face you must be prepared. It is a good idea to list out your points. Being prepared to break the relationship is key.

  4. Step 4

    In most cases the other party does not want the relationship to end so you must be prepared for this. Once you have made your mind up there is no turning back. So remember this during your final conversation. No matter what they say, there is no turning back. After you conversation is finished and the relationship has been broken you are finished. Do not keep in contact. This will only lead to further dismay.
