Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Decide what you want and where you want to go.
Plan ahead and make a checklist.
Decide what you want to do, how you want to do it, and when you want to do it. About 2-3 weeks before your occasion, start a checklist of what your plans are. You can write down more than one "idea" and pick from those ideas later.
Step2
Make reservations in order to get the service you desire.
Prepare.
At least a week ahead of the date, begin to finalize your plans. Do you want to go out to dinner? Make the reservations ahead of time in order to get that perfect table beside the window, not the one beside the kitchen door. Order flowers and such ahead of time. During busy seasons, such as Valentine's day or Mother's day, spontaneity may not be a good idea because they may be too booked to make the delivery. Are you planning a weekend get away? Make your plane and hotel reservations early in order to get good seats and a beautiful room with a perfect view. If you are planning this kind of date, you may need to check into those reservations much earlier in order to get the accommodations you desire.
Step3
Rehearse.
Mentally rehearse, step by step, how you plan the event to be. Did you remember everything? Do you have back-up plans for child care, car problems, flight delays? Planning ahead makes quite a bit of difference rather than scrambling at the last minute.
Step4
Enjoy!
You've prepared well, so now it's time to sweep your sweetheart away on the perfect date! Enjoy!

on 3/5/2008 Thankyou for that! I learned about back-up childcare the hard way. Nothing like having your romantic dinner for two turn into chinese food and Shrek for four because your sitter couldn't make it!
