There are many ways to make money online, one of them is by selling information products. An information product is a product that provides information on a topic. Many information products are about internet marketing, but not solely. Information products come in all shapes, sizes and forms. They can be anything from an e-book, to a piece of software.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • A computer
  • An internet connection
  • A website and a squeeze page
  • A way to accept payments online

Step1
Find an information product to sell, or create your own.
Step2
Find a hosting service to host your website. I like 110mb because they are free and do not have forced ads. However if you end up with a lot of traffic, you will have to upgrade to their paid service or move your website.
Step3
Purchase a domain name. Bravenet has domain names for $8 a year.
Step4
Set up a squeeze page on your website. A squeeze page is your sales letter about your product.
Step5
Set up a way to take payments online. The best route when you are just beginning is Paypal. You can set up purchase buttons on their website that allow people to purchase your products and the money is deposited in your Paypal account.
Step6
Set up a squeeze page for a product to give away, and have a sign-up form at the bottom so that those who would like the product sign up for your mailing list before getting it.
Step7
Get an autoresponder. Autoresponders are wonderful little programs that will respond automatically to anyone who fills out your sign-up form on your free product squeeze page. You can set up all the messages ahead of time, and then periodically add messages as the need arises. These save time and money and there are several free ones available.
Step8
Add your squeeze page to as many social bookmarking websites as you can. I use Onlywire because it allows you to bookmark your website to several places at once.
Step9
Submit your website and squeeze page to Google, Yahoo and any other major search engines.
Step10
Blog about your product and point readers to your squeeze page. Add your sqeeze page to your links.

Tips & Warnings

  • Join a joint venture and give away a product (something other than your new one)in return for people signing up for your mailing list. This will give you an opportunity to tell them when you have a new product out. Make sure you market the link for the joint venture to help get the word out.
  • You don't have to create your own information product, there are thousands of information products created by others who will sell you the resell rights thus giving you the opportunity to keep 100% of any profits.
  • If you choose a resell product that comes with its own squeeze page, change the wording in the sales letter so that it is your own.
  • Before creating your own sales letter/squeeze page read an e-book or two on how to write a sales letter and the kind of terminology and wording to use. It's not hard, but if you don't and then try to do it, you will find you don't make as many sales. You can find many free e-books online on this topic.
  • If you want to use a free autoresponder just Google free autoresponders and you'll find several. Be aware that the free ones send messages out with ads attached.
  • Set up your giveaway product squeeze page in such a way that when they click on the Submit button beneath the form it takes them to a squeeze page with the product you want to sell. Be sure and add a link at the bottom to take them to your download page for the giveaway product though, otherwise you could lose them. However, they will read your sales letter for your product for sale, and doing this will give you an opportunity to make more sales.
  • Make sure your giveaway product and your for sale product are related in some way. For example, I'm giving away a software product that creates PDF e-books, and my for sale product is a book about how to create e-book covers for free.
  • Don't flood your friends and family's e-mail boxes with messages on your new information product, you'll just alienate them, not make sales.
  • Choose an information product you have used and believe in. There is nothing worse than trying to promote a product that you are not familiar with, and you will not convince others to buy it if you aren't.
  • If you're planning on giving away a product at a joint venture, then be sure you have giveaway rights before doing so, otherwise you could wind up with legal troubles.
  • Don't sell an information product that you don't clearly have the resell rights to. Some products such as e-books come with a license, others say so at the beginning of the book. Be absolutely sure before you try to sell the product.
