If you're not sure how physically fit you are, you can gauge this aspect of your health and monitor your future fitness. Grab a stopwatch, a pen, some paper and your sneakers and follow these steps.
Map out a one-mile course and run it as fast as you can without stopping. Once you're done, record your time.

Do as many stomach crunches as you can in one minute. Watch your form.

Fill a backpack with water bottles that weigh 10 pounds. Hold one strap in each hand, with your palms up and bend your arms so they form a 90-degree angle to your torso. Keeping your elbows against your body, lift the pack up to your shoulders. Hold for a couple seconds, then start over. Do as many as you can in one minute.

Jump rope for one minute. Count the amount of times you jump.

See how many push ups you can do in one minute without stopping.

For fitness improvement, repeat this test at least three times a week. The first test gives you a baseline in each category. Your goal is to better your scores each week.
