Using puzzle pieces to scrapbook your memories can make amazing, distinctive embellishments for your scrapbook layouts. Piece together your memories by decorating puzzle pieces. Imagination and an old puzzle can create a masterpiece.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Puzzle pieces
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Embellishments
  • Photos (optional)
  • Scrapbook adhesive
  • Cutting tools (scissors, paper trimmer, etc.)

Step1
Choose a puzzle or select puzzle pieces that will fit on your scrapbook page or project.
Step2
Trace the puzzle shapes onto your paper or photographs and cut out the shapes.
Step3
Glue the paper to cover the puzzle piece or pieces.
Step4
Embellish and decorate the puzzle pieces as desired. You can use metal embellishments, ribbon, stamps, stickers or other media.

Tips & Warnings

  • A neat way to use the altered puzzle pieces is to make a photo collage by displaying different photos on each piece and putting the puzzle together on your page.
  • Glue the paper completely over the puzzle pieces and make sure it is secure so it doesn’t lift from the puzzle piece.
  • You can also frame the puzzle that you have altered to display in your home.
  • If you are not sure that the puzzle is made of memory safe material, spray it with an archival spray to ensure it is safe to use under or near your photographs.
  • If you are making a puzzle out of the decorated pieces then make sure your embellishments don’t interfere with assembling the puzzle.
