Wow that dress looks great on her and the belt really makes the outfit...however i can't wear a belt...blah blah blah. Yes you can, read on to find a belt that works for you and your body.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • an outfit that needs a little something
  • a little patience
  1. Step 1

First thing to remember is a belt has two purposes.
    1. hold your pants/skirt up...(but who really does this anymore)
    2. To accentuate the best part of your body

  2. Step 2

Now the decision comes to how thick of a belt should you wear, where should you place the belt, and on top of what should you place it.

How thick is pretty easy, thinner is always more flattering. So when in doubt go THIN. However, if you have a longer torso and can wear a thick belt around your natural waist, then please by all means show it off.

  3. Step 3

If you are thicker around you natural waist but have tiny hips, then sling that belt around those hips. (I know that around the high waist is popular right now but keep in mind, "just because it is trendy, DOES NOT mean it will look good on you". You will always look better if you wear what looks better on you.)

Now if you don't a lot of curves and have more of a square shape, do not fear...wear a thin layer, then a flattering skirt/pants, then add a light weight sweater with some shape to it, leave it somewhat open in the front and put the belt on over that, this will make it appear as if you have a thinner waist then hips (not the same size)...VA VOOM, you have a waist.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you wear a lot of color, then stick to a simple belt.
  • If you wear a lot of neutrals, then throw on a crazy fun belt
  • Have fun with it, if it stresses you out, put it down and try a different day
  • Try to remember to try on belts with the outfits you will actually wear them with, don't just assume it will work. Check return policies!
