A journal is a very personal item in which you record your hopes, dreams and fears. Go a step further and make your journal truly your very own. The stores are full of beautiful blank books that you can use, but you also can create your own personalized journal.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 3-ring binder
  • Paper
  • Marbled composition notebook
  • Art supplies

Step1
Buy a 3-ring binder or a marbled composition notebook. If you use a 3-ring binder, you can add or delete pages whenever you want. It also allows room to insert photo pages and memorabilia.
Step2
Personalize the journal by decorating the cover. You can go wild here and decorate the cover to reflect your hopes and dreams for the year to come.
Step3
Paste a list of journal topics in the front of the book for those days when you are stuck for something to write about. You can find journal topics all over the place. Use a search engine or find topics right here on this website.
Step4
Separate your journal into sections by using dividers (for 3-ring binders) or colored tabs (for composition notebooks). Label these tabs with headings like "dreams," "memories," "lists," "poems" or any other categories you can think of.
Step5
Protect your journal by laminating the cover with a self-adhesive lamination kit. You can buy these at most office supply or drug stores. You simply peel the back off the lamination sheet and apply it to your cover.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make separate journals for special occasions, such as trips, births or weddings.
